why I left "the stead" - 12/11/2007
The stead is my heart, made me who I am, but I had toget out.Too expensive,no "real" jobs(except Verizon), and nothing to do,except for the Taste of Honey strip bar(and evn that fell off when the owner "TJ"died)This was once a great town, nakisaki resteraunt, A&S dept stores,Afro American museum(still there, but nothing in it),and I don't blame the Latinos or the corrupt government, Hempstead to me now is a 1/2 backward run down ghost town,The best thing I COULD'VE EVR DONE WAS LEAVE.Now the wanna bee's are Crips and Bloods, ms13, or swp. no future, no nightlife, Hempstead is a dead end, so are Roosevelt &Freetoo. I thank god I moved to Brooklyn, I love Read More

They can't afford that type of rent or let alone mortgage for a $300,000-$500,000 3 bedroom home, when you can go down south and buy a larger home with more yard space for less than half the price of these! I'm presently looking to relocate also, just picking where is my only problem. But by the end of the year I'm making my mind up and exiting this town that I grew up in and use to Read More
